Took a tirp down to Port Arasnas, Texas this year to visit my girlfriend’s aunt. We had meant to fly down but due to unforeseen circumstances, a broken plane and a sudden anxiety attack, we ended up driving down instead. Road trips tend to be much more fun anyway!
The drive from Omaha, NE to just the norther edge of Texas is a beast in and of itself. That is even the halfway point on our journey south. We had BBQ in Kansas at Arthur Bryants and managed to find the Hipster part of Oklahoma City. Hipsters are known for being synonymous with great and/or interesting food. When in doubt follow the beards and skinny jeans to an amazing meal.
Port Arasnas is a bit touristy but that can have it’s own unique charm. The high cost of living on this small strip of land leaves one to wonder where all the day workers were coming from. We latter soon found out that most of the people who worked in Port Aransas have to be ferried in from the city just north every morning.
Thanks to Jessica’s aunt Doris for providing us with a beautiful place to stay right near the gulf.
I got some good photos for my portfolio as well:
