LensHero.com – Compare and Contrast DSLR Camera Lenses
Here’s how LensHero describes themselves:
LensHero is a site dedicated to digital camera lenses. Our goal is to cover all of the lenses you might want, for both DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. LensHero makes it easy to find lenses for your camera, and to figure out what lenses are out there and which one is right for you.
I believe they have hit the nail on the head. Great starting point for most, and good lens porn for others.
One of the stand out features of the site is it’s sheer simplicity.
Here’s a quick video rundown of the site:
The first thing you do is Select the Type of Camera you have and your proposed budget.
The Next step is what type of lens you are looking for. I love the way they set up this section of the site.
There are Three Tabs in this section.
Style – 12 different styles of lenses to choose from:
-Macro and Close-up
-Wide Angle
-Telephoto
-Fisheye
-Tilt-shift
-Portrait
-Sports and Action
-Landscape
-Low Light
-Wild Life
-Travel
-All Lenses
The next tab is Zoom – this gives you a slider and you select the low and high end of the lenses you are looking for. From 14mm to 300mm
The final tab is Suggest – this one allows you to add all the lenses you already own and suggests something new for you to try out within your budget. One of the better features of the site.
After making your selections it’ll take you to a page with various lenses and ratings. Clicking on a lens will give you a few reviews from B&H and more lens stats in easy to read horizontal graphs.
While the site is very new, it is useful and can be amazing with some added features.
Some things I’d like to see:
-More review sites than just B&H.
-Actual images from the lenses.(Maybe user submitted)
-Compare and contrast chart. I’d like to grab 3 or 4 lenses I’m interested in and compare them side by side in an easy to read chart.
