Hoodys(Hoodies, Hooded Sweatshirts, Bunny Hug, whatever you’d like to call them) I’ve always had a slight obsession with them. A brief history and perception according to the knowledgebase wikipedia. With this small obsession comes the search for the “perfect” hoody.

Over time my perception of that perfect garment has of course changed. It started with my skateboarding days when wearing one was a good way to prevent some nasty road rash. A good way to express ones interests, or ones rebelious nature, or even your band preference.

The current evolution of what niche it has to fill now is that of something that looks acceptable in a business casual workplace, yet can take a few scrapes and scars from the trail and still fair okay.

So this is my latest trial in my never-ending quest for that perfect garment. It’s the Marmot Croydon Fleece LS Hoody. I picked up one on sale for 62 bucks from an online retailer but they Typically run for 90 USD.

Marmot Hood

Hood Closure System

We have here a semi-unique cinch system for the hood. On most hoodies you’ll get the familiar shoe string through the hood with a knot tied on both ends to prevent the cordage to slide into the hood, where it’ll become forever trapped.(A common, frustrating occurrence) Instead the use a similar design to all of their coats and jackets, where the hood is cinched with a bit of lightweight cordage that has a bit of stretch to it. Two cordlocks are then used so that you don’t get any slipage in the overall tightness of the hood.

I’ll just say it feels fantastic next to the skin, except for the weird patch of fabric used for the pouch. Typically a non-issue because who wears a sweater without anything underneath.
