We had a bit of fun doing the maternity shoot with my sister. Here she is depicted a s a strong women, and no doubt that she is with what she’s had to put up with.

Skyla contemplating her forthcoming brother.

Steve Kafka checking his shots on the trail.

Out on the trail Steve checks his camera for proper exposure. Harsh light filtering down through the trees can make it difficult to get a decent shot. I recommend bracketing your shots, the polar extremes of light and dark make it tough work for a cameras sensor to get a good exposure.

Went on a little weekend trip with the family out to the Keystone/Breckenridge area of Colorado. Stayed in a beautiful condo owned by a family friend. No major backpacking but a couple day hikes that where incredible. One was up to a massive waterfall and a tiny lake, the second was up Mohawk trail just south of Breckenridge to little Mohawk lake with a lot of old abandoned mining equipment along the way.

Brie attracting the attention of the local fauna.

For some reason I’ve been addicted to the stark black and white look. I know it’s probably been f-ed out but I still enjoy it. This is my sister Brie on our Niobrara trip in the Summer of 2012.

September 2011 we had a small trip to visit some friends up in Fort Collins, CO. A little road trip with my Sister, her husband and their two year Skyla(who was surprisingly well behaved for a two yearer).

“Brie offers Skyla a bite off a candybar.”

We stayed for two nights out at a campsite just outside of Fort Collins, went on a couple hikes and had an epic bonfire.

“Large pano of the trail we hiked.”

Another in the “stark” series I’ve been doing lately.
